Hello - I will be moving from Florida to Germany for a two year job. I would like to bring me 1995 E36 M3 with me. It has a custom turbo system and exhaust. It makes 400 horsepower and is very fast. I can drive the car in Germany for six months using my Florida plates and registration. Some people have told me I could probably drive for a year without legal problems. My car is really nice and I do not want to leave it home. Do you think I should bring it and just drive it with the USA plates, or try to get it approved for German registration? Sorry about the English, I do not have any German, yet! Bearbeitet von - weiß-blau-fan-rude am 29.01.2007 21:08:59 |

A 3,0l with turbo, oh my god, you pay tax in german for emission endless. Even the german police can not do anything with you, i am sure, your car is a problem for the german car test (TÜV). Info: To get the german TÜV test sticker, you need german dials . |

Autor: Weiß-Blau-Fan-Rude Datum: 29.01.2007 Antwort: ---------------------------------------------------------- I am not sure, when your home ist still US, and you are pay tax still in the US, your car is not nessesary to change. The US Army here in germany drive with there own plates or ? So it should be the same case for you. But this go to far for me with the german law´s. |

You are legal for a half year in germany. after that you need a tuev sticker, german plates and incurence. Don't do that you will pay your but off. the hardest part is the tuev. your m3 needs GS or Tuev certified parts. and i don't think any of your after market part are certified for german standarts. I'm sorry! I little tip. buy you a porsche with a air cooled engine bring it over and sell it. you make a lot of money. I did that three times. Hier kostet der Liter Sprit nur 0,52EURO |

For 2 years it´s not possible to drive with your US car. I know that severals amandmends have to be made on your car. Changing speedometer etc. I think what Sven wrote sounds very interersting? But didn´t they stop producing air coold engines after 1993?? "Fordere viel von dir selbst und erwarte wenig von den anderen. So wird dir Ärger erspart bleiben." |
Autor: CommanderC Datum: 30.09.2008 Antwort: ---------------------------------------------------------- @ m3james Since your m3 has a custom exhaust system and a turbo you can basically forget to get it registered in Germany on your own efforts. The only way is to contact a specialised dealer like www.uscarscenter.de or www.uscars24.de. They would probably get the German warrant of fitness, but I guess for a fortune only... The Porsche idea sounds much better and @ BlackPJ80 the 993 was produced until 1997. |
