Speaking and reading are not a problem, but written........ What I need to know it what "torque convertor lock up clutch" is auf Deutsche. To be clear we are talking about aE61 525d automatic gearbox 2008. Torque convertor, that is quite simple to translate, but the "lock up clutch", the part that locks the torque convertor once the car is at speed is my problem. I believe that mine is failing. I have a fluctuating tacho needle at a fixed throttle and a feel as if the car being held back and then released. The car is under garanttee and has no fault codes present. Surfing the web, this seems to be a common problem, but getting BMW to do something when there are no stored codes is a bit of a problem. To that end I am trying to inform myself before I go back again. I have already had a gearbox software reload and the adaptive programming has been reset to factory setting, but I still have the same problem. Thank you Matt |

Autor: Charlie Wax Datum: 14.07.2011 Antwort: ---------------------------------------------------------- The torque converter lockup clutch ist the so called "Drehmomentwandler Überbrückungskupplung". But my knowledge about those deep technical stuff is limited. Maybe some other members can explain you how it works exactly. BUt what I know is that the torque converter takes the place of those clutch, to seperate the load from the power source. So it can multiply torque when there is a substantial difference between input and output rotational speed, providing the equivalent of a reduction gear. This lockup clutch improves cruising power transmission efficiency and reduces heat. The converter contains 3 rotating devices, such as the turbine, impeller and stator. Hope this helps you out a little bit. |
