Neues lenkrad im e39 530d
Hi guysBecause me question is to technical, and my german is way to bad, I will ask in english, hope its okay:-)
I´m a proud owner of a BMW e39 530d touring from 9/1999 and i´ve just bougt a new steering wheel with buttoms for controling the volume on the radio, and controling the cruise control and so on and the steering wheel which is in my car now, has not theese bottoms. The steering wheel i´ve bought is from an e39 523i from 2001. Is it possible to install this steering wheel in my car??
It is ok to answer the question i german...

we had this questions several times here. It is important that you have a two-stage airbag (that was being built in since FEB 1999).
So for your model it is no problem to use the steering wheel from 2001 (but I think you mean its from an E39 525i, because the 523i wasn't produced anymore since 09/2000).
But just be informed that you will not be able to use the bottoms for volume, cruise control etc.

Thanks for answering my question. I have tried to search the forum for questions like mine, but because of my bad technical german, I dont understand half of the words I´m reading:-(
I do think my car has a two-stage airbag. My e39 530d i produced in 9/99.
How come the buttoms for volume control and cruise control wont work in my car? As far as I am told, I will have to wire about 3 wires from the steering wheel, 1 ground, 1 batt. and 1 for the I-bus. Isn´t that right?
